After several previous (re)releases, the Opposite Direction Foundation and Sounds Haarlem Likes Vinyl are releasing Harmony and Destruction, remastered and with previously unreleased bonus tracks, on double vinyl. It is Adrian Borland’s fifth solo album. It was previously released only on CD in 2002. Unlike its predecessor, Last Days of the Rain Machine/Scales of Love and Hate, Borland actually wanted to release this album himself. Borland considered the album a potential comeback and was very proud of the songs on it. The recordings date back to 1999, made in the final weeks of Borland’s life. The album was nearly finished at the time of Borland’s death, but was finished by Pat Rowles in Adrian’s spirit. Because the album was not yet fully finished at Borland’s death, it was nicknamed “The Unfinished Journey.” The album contains rock songs, but also deeply sad tracks that aptly describe Borland’s depression at the time.
