Cornelius Tyree labored among his fellow Baptists for over half of a century. In all that time, he never tired of declaring Christianity to be a living, dynamic faith that begins and ends in Christ. In The Living Epistle, Tyree outlines the cause and characteristics of anemic Christianity, its remedy, the remedial effects on humanity, how the remedy might be obtained, and the motives for doing so. “The best commentary on the Bible the world has ever seen,” says Tyree, “is a holy life.”

______________

Cornelius Tyree (1814-1891) was a nineteenth-century American Baptist who contributed much to the faith and practice of Baptists throughout the southern United States. After being raised in Amherst County, Virginia, Tyree attended William and Mary College and Columbia College, where he earned a Doctor of Divinity degree. He pastored congregations throughout Virginia for fifty-two years. Although having written several works on baptism and communion, Tyree is probably best known for the present work, The Living Epistle, or The moral power of a religious life

______________

"In this Baptist Reprint, Cornelius Tyree (1814-1891) shows the vital place of godly living as an appointed means by God in drawing sinners to Christ. Practical holiness lived out in the lives of Christians, according to Tyree, enforces and validates the truth of the gospel. Tyree thought deeply about the moral power and influence of the Christian life, and he expressed it clearly and powerfully." From the New Introduction by Kenneth Kiambati

sweet picture book read
Format: Hardcover
I LOVE DAD WITH THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR is a sweet book of love, written from the perspective of a child to their father. The book uses imagery from other Eric Carle books alongside simple language to describe the connection between father and child, such as "Dad... You are easy to talk to... and you're fun to play with." Ellipses break up sentences across multiple pages, with animals that suit each phrase pictured as parent and child. What I loved: This is a cute and simple read that would be a great gift for a new father or father of a young child, as they can share it together. The short length of the book works well for infants and toddlers, as each page only has a few words. The illustrations are simple, borrowing from past Eric Carle books to maintain his style, and showing the animals most related to the text (for instance, on the page with "but you're still cool" it features polar bears) on a white background. This is a simple style that will work well for little ones. The very hungry caterpillar appears on each page, almost hidden and could make for a fun and easy search for toddlers. Final verdict: Overall, this is a sweet picture book that would make a great gift for new fathers or fathers with young children.

Daily devotional with ease.
Format: Imitation Leather
This is a great little devotional book for men. I bought two, one for me and one for my son. I keep mine at my desk at work and read it each morning and I enjoy the insightful quotes and verses that help me start my day. It truly only takes about a minute or two to read through everything and the verses are actually written out on the page with the reference. I know there are a lot of devotionals out there that you can select from, but I like this one because it’s small and compact and acutely directed towards men. The small size is perfect, the price is excellent, and the daily devotionals are spot on.
