ARBs Air Locker(TM) Differential Spreader is a professional automotive tool that no differential installer should be without. Most common Salisbury style axle assemblies (e.g., Dana Spicer model 44) require the use of a differential spreader in order to achieve the required carrier bearing pre-load during set-up. Stretching the housing casting (or pumpkin) open by sufficient enough force as to allow extra shim to be added to create the pre-load is the method that the OEM manufactures endorse, and most manufacture's have included special spreader sockets in the housing for exactly this purpose. Insufficient pre-load can result in bearing failure, or ring and pinion failure on any differential, and possible oil/air leakage issues in an Air Locker(TM) Differential. Always order big!
I needed a minimum of 2 AWG wire to create interconnects between batteries in a large bank. If you note, these say 1/0 Gauge, not AWG. What is 1/0 Gauge? Who knows, it's fake. Meaningless, because it is not standardized so you have no clue what you are getting.
What did I get for my 1/0 Gauge wire? Something that was in between 1 and 2 AWG (closer to 1). This was perfect for my needs because I knew darn well how big to order when they say gauge instead of AWG.
As a rule of thumb: If they as gauge, order 3 - 4 sizes larger than you need in AWG. This will always net you larger wire than you need but I have never had it net me wire smaller than I needed.
At the price I got it for during prime days, it was a steal for 2 AWG wire, so I win!
