To ensure safety, floor tiles are assigned an 'R' value on a scale ranging from R9 (basic standard) to R13 (highest slip resistance). The Silken Floor tiles have an R10 slip rating, making them well-suited for dry domestic areas like kitchens.
For spaces where temperatures may drop below freezing, such as utility rooms and conservatories, it's crucial to choose frost-proof tiles. Frost-proof tiles, with a water absorption rate of less than 0.5%, are perfect for these conditions. Tiles lacking frost-proof glazing can absorb water, which may freeze at or below zero degrees, potentially leading to tile damage.
