Driving west from Lincoln to Grand Island, Nebraska, Paul A. Johnsgard remarks, is like driving backward in time. "I suspect," he says, "that the migrating cranes of a pre-ice age period some ten million years ago would fully understand every nuance of the crane conversation going on today along the Platte."
Johnsgard has spent nearly a half century observing cranes, from a yearly foray to Nebraska's Platte River valley to see the spring migration, to pilgrimages to the birds' wintering grounds in Arizona and nesting territory in Alaska. In this book he draws from his own extensive experience as well as the latest science to offer a richly detailed and deeply felt account of the ecology of sandhill and whooping cranes and the wetlands in which they live.
Incorporating current information on changing migration patterns, population trends, and breeding ranges, Johnsgard explains the life cycle of the crane, as well as the significance of these species to our natural world. He also writes frankly of the uncertain future of these majestic birds, as cranes and their habitats face the effects of climate change and increasing human population pressures. Illustrated with the author's own ink drawings and containing a detailed guide to crane-viewing sites in the United States and Canada, this book is at once an invaluable reference and an eloquent testimony to how much these birds truly mean.

When a single one cartridge in a set fails :(
Style: Ink, Style: Ink
This for use in my oldish Epson WF-7840 model, which is an ink guzzler; its decent print quality and large paper format notwithstanding. For work projects and good color on laser & gloss papers, this is the only good ink choice on this model. Well, that is, IF you get all ink cartridges in a set working. Therefore, given its price, it is frustrating that, when a brand new single cartridge (of a set) fails, you can be left with few good choices. Along the years, this has happened to me twice...plus today, just one, of a pricey Epson set, failed. When I've bought from a local store, they have had no problem helping with this issue in the past.. I am sure that Amazon & Epson will make it right also. YET, I do have to send back the whole set, even for a single cartridge replacement, which they DO HAVE AS A SEPARATE item. It is a bit of a drag because I need the printer working now and this magenta ink cartridge is all I needed to work at this time. How about dedicating some of Amazon's awesome IT & AI power to distinguish and better respond to this kind of situation? After all, Artificial Intelligence can sort this kind of thing in just a bit or two.

Epson ink
Style: Ink
The EPSON 812 DURABrite Ultra Ink is excellent! It fit perfectly in my printer with no problems at all. The print quality looks sharp, clear, and professional colors come out bright and crisp every time. The ink lasts a long time, so it’s definitely worth the price. I’m very happy with it and will definitely buy again. Great product from Epson!
