"Full, deep purple, even colour throughout. Vibrant, fine, persistent bead. The nose is full and savoury, with blackberry, plum, dark cocoa and spice. Full-bodied, ripe blackberry and dark plum entwined with dark cocoa, black pepper and nutmeg. The mouse is creamy and vibrant, enlivens the rich palate. Smooth, dusty tannins provide substance and texture, linger to a dry, broody finish. The Knappstein Sparkling Shiraz offers ripe fruit, with soft plump tannins, and a dry finish. Concentration of fruit balances with savoury spice and earthy notes, while waiting for the refreshing hit from the bubbles as they tantalise the palate, leaving a cleansing sensation.

"Surely a contender for value buy of the year. Indeed, the range of four reds released here is definitely odds on for best buying collection of the year. Maroon purple, this is a brooding, deep red with aromas of plums, chocolate, cigar boxes, dry herbs and raspberries – the black fruits kick in much more on the palate. There is good density, but the wine retains its freshness. Very fine tannins and a lingering finish, this is utterly delicious and should remain so for at least the next six to eight years. The 2021 Shiraz is full of brambles and blue/black fruits with a spicy lift. Layers of brooding dark fruits, spice and savoury characters are framed in fine oak. The sinewy tannin profile pulls the wine through to a long and moreish finish.

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of juicy blackcurrants, dark chocolate and mint, accented by savoury notes of tobacco leaf. The palate is elegantly structured with classic flavours of chocolate and bay leaf, flowing through to ripe blackberries and fresh thyme to finish.

The 2024 Riesling has both elegance and intensity, with true Knappstein traits of lime, spice and white florals on the nose and a generously flavoured palate. Lively acid, mineral texture and a powerful and persistent lemon finish.

Aromas of blue berry, perfume and spice concentrate the nose, with elegant floral undertones providing lift. The palate is long and full of flavour, with a tight tannin profile and framework for the fruit to extend. Excellent tension and precise use of oak will see this wine age amongst the best in its class.
